High-Scoring First Half Leads to Win for No. 1 Women's Lacrosse

Box Score QUICK SCORE: The No. 1 ranked SCAD women's lacrosse team dominated Friday afternoon as they won 20-12 over the visiting No. 2 Lawrence Tech Blue Devils.
 
RECORDS: The Bees remain undefeated with a 5-0 record while the Blue Devils fall to 4-2.
 
DID YOU KNOW? This was a re-match of the 2017 NAIA Invitational National Championship game in which SCAD won 16-10.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Sydney Knego scored the first goal of the game when she found the net 20 seconds into the first half.
 
A minute later, the Blue Devils tied it up with a goal of their own. However, that was the closest Lawrence Tech would come to the lead for the remainder of the game.
 
The Bees scored 15 more goals in the first half to take a 10-point (16-6) lead into the half.
 
Even though the Blue Devils out-scored the Bees 6-4 in the second-half, it was not enough as SCAD picked up the 20-12 win.
 
BOX SCORE: Knego totaled a game-high five goals and added one assist for six points.
 
Shannon Flaherty and Jo Mitchell totaled four goals with Mitchell adding four assists for a game-high eight points. Flaherty had two assists for six points.
 
Taylor Vaccaro tallied three goals and three assists for six points as well.
 
Goalies Maggie Lortz (5-0) and Olivia Vieira split time in cage and totaled two saves each.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees hit the road for the first of four away games on March 16 in Hilton Head, S.C. SCAD will play Post University.
