WHAT HAPPENED: The SCAD men's tennis team traveled to Statesboro, GA to play in the NCAA Division I Georgia Southern University Invite.
THURSDAY EVENING (DOUBLES): Daiki Naka and
Mateo Fernandezstarted off with a battle against University of South Carolina Upstate but unfortunately fell 6-1. The duo later lost 6-2 to Georgia Southern University.
Matt Kastritisand
Eloy Velosobattled Georgia Southern first round but were unable to capitalize and lost 6-1. They followed with a great performance against USC Upstate but also fell 6-4.
FRIDAY: MATCHES CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER
SATURDAY (SINGLES): Naka battled well but was unable to solve the riddle in time and lost to Coastal Carolina 3-6, 2-6. He also had a great battle with Florida Tech but got the short end of the stick 6-3, 1-6, 5-10.
Kastritis fought but lost to USC Upstate 2-6, 1-6. He later had a close three setter against fellow bee Fernandez 6-4, 2-6, 8-10. Mateo went down in the first round to Florida Tech 4-6, 6-3, 5-10.
SUNDAY (SINGLES): Naka lost a tough one to College of Charleston 6-2, 2-6, 5-10. "He had trouble maintaining consistency in the big hitting battle" stated Coach
Ken Obermeier. "Some great play and phenomenal touch just was not on play enough at the key times"
ACCORDING TO COACH O: "The Bees hope to gain valuable experience and learn from this good competitive event. The men's and women's teams will resume competition in January 2019."
