Savannah, Georgia – Sean Hajdu won at No. 1 singles, but it wasn't enough as the Bees fell to third-ranked Keiser 8-1 Friday afternoon at Bacon Park. With the win the Seahawks improve to 17-2 and 6-0 in conference play, while the Bees fell to 4-9 overall and 2-4 against the Sun Conference.
Keiser struck first winning all three doubles points to take an early 3-0 lead. The Seahawks picked up wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles to clinch the match. Keiser extended their lead to 7-0 with wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.
At No. 1 singles Hajdu dropped the first set to Nicolas Guerschanik, ranked 41 in the NAIA, 0-6. Hajdu rallied to win the second set 6-1 to force a third set. Hajdu won the third set 6-3 to score SCAD's first point of the match.
Kenta Naka won the first set at No. 2 singles 7-5. Naka dropped the second set 4-6, which forces a tiebreaker. Martin Martins won the deciding tiebreaker 10-5 to win the point for the 8-1 final.
The Bees will return to the court tomorrow, April 9, when they travel to Brunswick, Georgia to face Coastal Georgia. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
