Box Score Hardeeville, South Carolina – Cameron Dolan scored the game-winning goal with 1:44 remaining in the game to give the top-ranked SCAD women's lacrosse team a 15-14 win over fifth-ranked Lawrence Tech Friday afternoon at the SCAD Athletic Complex. With the win the Bees improve to 4-0, while the Blue Devils fall to 2-2.
SCAD struck first as Olivia Stahl picked up a ground ball off a Lawrence Tech turnover and found Emma Devereaux for a goal to give the Bees a 1-0 lead, 43 seconds into the game. The two teams traded goals before Devereaux connected with Joanna Ehatt for a goal to extend SCAD lead to 3-1. Shannon Flaherty and Devereaux connected twice for goals, before Alyssa Stetson netted an unassisted goal to give SCAD the 6-1 advantage. Lawrence Tech responded scoring five of the next six goals to cut the Bees lead to 7-6 at the break.
The Bees came out firing in the second half netting a goal on each of their first four possession. Kirsten Carr scored back-to-back goals as part of that stretch to give SCAD an 11-6 lead with 24:32 remaining in the half. The Blue Devils responded scoring four unanswered goals to cut the lead to 11-10. After the two teams traded goals Sophie Cutts and Carr scored back-to-back goals to give SCAD a 14-11 lead with 7:50 left. Lawrence Tech would score three straight goals to even the score 14-14 with 2:35 left in the second half. SCAD won the ensuing draw control and on that possession Carr found Dolan cutting towards the cage for the eventual game-winning goal.
Leading the way for the Bees was Flaherty who tallied two goals, five assists, five ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Carr and Devereaux both tallied five points in the game. Devereaux also picked up five draw controls, while Torii Clark picked up a team-high nine draw controls.
Stahl finished the game with a goal and two assists, while Danni Cox netted a pair of goals. Maddie Boucher and Maggie Lortz split time in the cage and they each recorded two saves.
The Bees return to action Sunday, March 6, when they face Aquinas. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the SCAD Athletic Complex.
