Box Score Williamsburg, Kentucky – The top-ranked SCAD women's lacrosse team had ten different players net at least one goal en route to a 22-1 win over the University of the Cumberlands Sunday morning. With the win the Bees improve to 2-0, while the Patriots fall to 1-1.
SCAD struck first, scoring goals on each of their first three possessions giving the Bees a 3-0 lead 1:32 into the contest. Shannon Flaherty netted three of the next four goals to extend SCAD's lead to 7-0, midway through the first half. SCAD added five unanswered goals to take a 12-0 lead with 7:51 remaining in the first half. After a Patriot goal, Kirsten Carr found Torii Clark cutting towards the cage for a goal to extend SCAD's lead to 13-1 at the break.
It was a similar story in the second half as the Bees scored nine straight goals for the 22-1 final.
Leading the way for the Bees were Olivia Stahl and Flaherty. Stahl tallied three goals, four assists, five caused turnovers, and six ground balls, while Flaherty tallied three goals, four draw controls, five caused turnovers and six ground balls.
Joanna Ehatt and Clark both netted a hat trick, while Danni Cox, Drew Dowgiallo, Sophie Cutts, and Carr finished with a pair of goals each.
Maddie Boucher, Olivia Vieira, and Maggie Lortz split time in the cage. Boucher started and earned her first collegiate win.
The Bees return to action Saturday, February 27, when they travel to Laurinburg, North Carolina to face St. Andrews. Game time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
