SCAD Soars Over Skyhawks 18-3

Box Score Hardeeville, South Carolina - The top-ranked SCAD women's lacrosse team had nine different players net at least one goal as the Bees defeated Point 18-3 Friday afternoon at the SCAD Athletic Complex. With the win the Bees improve to 9-2, while the Skyhawks falls to 7-6.

SCAD struck first as Charlotte Cutts found Kayla Nelson in front of the cage for goal less than a minute into the game. The Point offense came out strong, attacking the Bees defense but Jenny Danko made five of her 12 saves, over the course of the next seven minutes, to keep the Skyhawks scoreless. Minutes later, Cutts connected with Nelson for a goal to give the Bees a 2-0 advantage. SCAD took advantage of a Point turnover as Sophie Cutts netted an unassisted goal ten minutes into the first half. Jordan Cook and Sophie Cutts each scored a pair of goals to extend the Bees lead to 7-0 with 11:34 remaining in the first half. SCAD scored four unanswered goals to take an 11-0 with 2:56 remaining. Courteney Darrow netted an unassisted goal for the Skyhawks to cut the lead to 11-1 at the break.

The two teams traded goals to start the second half. Five minutes into the half, Joanna Ehatt scored an unassisted goal to give the Bees a 13-2 advantage. SCAD scored two of the next three goals to extend their lead to 15-3 with 13:05 remaining. Tori Alexander, Sophie Cutts, and Kirsten Carr each netted a goal for the 18-3 final.

Nelson led the Bees tallying two four goals, two assists, and four ground balls. Sophie Cutts netted five goals, while Charlotte Cutts scored a goal and dished out four assists. Danni Cox finished the game with three assists.

The Bees will return to action next weekend when they host a pair of games at the SCAD Athletic Complex. SCAD will face St. Andrews Saturday at 2 p.m. and wrap up their regular season Sunday at 11 a.m. against Ave Maria.
