Savannah, Georgia – The SCAD men's tennis team fell 7-2 to 12
th-ranked Coastal Georgia in their regular season finale, Friday morning a Bacon Park. With the win the Mariners improve to 9-5, while the Bees falls to 6-7.
The Bees scored the first point of the match as
Bobby Brand and
Josh Tewes-McCoy won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles. SCAD battled at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles but came up short as Coastal Georgia won both points 8-6.
The Mariners won No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-3 to extend their lead to 3-1.
Sean Hajdu cut the deficit to 3-2 with a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles. Coastal Georgia won straight set points at No. 2 and No. 5 singles to clinch the match.
Yulin Liu and Tewes-McCoy both took their matches to three sets before dropping the points for the 7-2 final.
The Bees return to action next week when they travel to Daytona Beach, Florida to compete in the Sun Conference Tournament. Stay tuned to SCADathletics.com for dates and times.
