Jacksonville, Florida – The SCAD men's tennis team defeated Webber International 9-0 Sunday afternoon in Jacksonville, Florida. With the win the Bees improve to 6-5 and 5-1 in the Sun Conference, while the Warriors fall to 4-11 and 1-5 in conference play.
The Bees jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, picking up wins at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles by default.
Kenta Naka and
Joao Freitas extended SCAD's lead with an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles. An 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles gave SCAD a 4-0 lead heading into singles play.
Sean Hajdu and
Bobby Brand both won 6-0, 6-0 to secure the victory for SCAD. Freitas defeated Hugo Cedeno 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles to give SCAD a 7-0 advantage. Naka and
Yulin Liu picked up the final two points for the Bees.
This match was a makeup from February 28, which was rained out.
SCAD will return to action Saturday when they host Sun Conference rival Embry-Riddle. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at Bacon Park.
