Lawrenceville, Georgia – Defending national champion Georgia Gwinnett showed why they are top team in the country defeating SCAD 9-0 Sunday afternoon at the GGC Tennis Courts.
The Grizzles jumped out to an early 2-0 lead picking up wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. At No. 2 doubles,
Kenta Naka and
Joao Freitas battled Jordan Cox and Connor Clements, the top-ranked doubles team in NAIA, but came up short dropping the point 8-4.
It was a similar story in singles play as the Grizzles swept all six singles matches in straight sets.
SCAD will return to action tomorrow when they face Cumberland University in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
