Orlando, Florida – The 22
nd-ranked SCAD men's tennis team used a strong start to defeat Warner 7-2 in conference play Friday afternoon. With the win the Bees improve to 4-3 and 3-1 in the Sun Conference, while the Royals fall to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Bobby Brand and
Josh Tewes-McCoy scored the first point of the match with an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.
Yulin Liu and
Sean Hajdu picked up an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles to give SCAD the 2-0 lead.
Kenta Naka and Joao Frietas won the tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles to complete the sweep.
The strong play continued into singles matches as Brand picked up a straight set win at No. 5 singles. Warner cut the deficit to 4-1 after a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles. Naka, Hajdu, and Tewes-McCoy all won in the third set to clinch the match for the Bees.
SCAD will return to action tomorrow when they face Sun Conference rival Webber in Orlando, Florida. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
