Women’s Lacrosse Opens Home Schedule with a Pair of Games

Savannah, Georgia – The second-ranked women's lacrosse team will open their home schedule with a pair of games this weekend at the SCAD Athletic Complex.  The Bees will face Emmanuel College Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. and then play Reinhardt University Sunday at 10 a.m. 

SCAD heads into the weekend with a 2-0 record after posting wins against Newberry and Wingate. Leading the way for the Bees is midfielder Kayla Nelson, who has tallied a team high eight goals and ten points. Midfielder Taylor Vaccaro has score seven goals, while Jordan Cook has netted four goals and dished out three assists.  Goalie Jenny Danko has made 21 saves and picked up eight ground balls in the cage.

Emmanuel comes into the game with a 1-4 record after falling to Belmont Abbey Tuesday afternoon. The Lions are led by midfielder Allie Brock, who has netted five goals and won 20 draw controls.  Junior Haley Larson leads the Lions with 8 goals, while Tara Larson has netted four.  Between the pipes Inaya Alexander has made 24 saves for Emmanuel. 

Reinhardt comes into this weekend game with a 2-0 record after defeating LeGrange 20-9 last Sunday.  The Eagles are led by attacker Mary Kate Minick who leads the team with nine goals, five assists, and 14 points.  Stephanie Grove netted four goals against LeGrange, while Kaleigh Clarke has scored three goals and dished out three assists.  Goalie Colleen Cicci has made 23 saves in the two wins. The Eagles will play Young Harris College on Friday before facing the Bees on Sunday morning.

Last year SCAD went 4-0 against Emmanuel and Reinhardt, posting two wins against each.  The Bees defeated Emmanuel twice during the regular season.  SCAD opened its season last year with a 20-11 win at Reinhardt and then defeated the Eagles 19-10 in the NWLL South Region Championship game.
