West Palm Beach, FL – The 19
th-ranked men's tennis team drop its first road conference match of the season, 7-2, to 14
th-ranked Northwood Saturday afternoon at Gaines Park. With the win, the Seahawks improve to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in The Sun Conference, while the Bees fall to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
Northwood took the first point of the match with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles.
Bobby Brand and
Josh Tewes-McCoy evened the score at 1-1 with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
Yulin Liu and
Sean Hajdu battled Alvaro Iturriaga and Nicolas Guerschanik at No. 1 doubles. The match went back and forth, but Northwood won the tiebreaker and took a 2-1 lead into singles play.
The Bees lone point in singles play came from Liu who defeated Martin Martins 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. SCAD dropped the other singles matches in straight sets.
SCAD will return to action Sunday, February 22, when they host Sun Conference rival Saint Thomas. The match is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Bacon Park.
