The Lady Bees did what they had to do against conference rival St. Andrews University. They came out fast and furious as they mounted a 10-2 halftime lead on the Knights.
Charlotte Cutts,
Kayla Nelson, and
Chelsea Stambouly contributed 2 goals each in the first half to put the game out of reach. Of the six shots in the first half by St. Andrews, SCAD goalie,
Jennifer Danko saved three of the five shots on goal so the Bees had a very good first half of play.
But the Knights came back in the second half and outscored SCAD 7-5 to make the game respectable. All totaled, the Bees had ten different ladies strike for goals in the game – a sign of a balanced offense. Nelson added one more in the second half to lead the ladies with three goals.
The statistics were all SCAD as they outshot the Knights 34 to 21, had 7 more ground balls, had 4 less turnovers, and won the draw controls 17-9.
SCAD now is 9-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play. SCAD faces a tough opponent tomorrow in its “Senior Day” finale of the 2013 season. The Lady Bees will be matching up against the only team to defeat them in conference play, the Hawks of Shorter University, who won an earlier match in double overtime by a score of 10-11. The game will begin at 12 noon at the SCAD Sports Complex. Come and cheer for your SCAD Bees!!
