The South Carolina State Bulldogs handed the Bees an 8-6, 8-1 loss in doubles play in Orangeburg, SC to claim an early advantage in its match with SCAD.
The #1 doubles team of
Jack Anton and Darnell Squbin was on serve to begin the twelfth game, but had to discontinue their match at 5-6 because of NCAA Division I rules that conclude an ongoing match when there are two losses in the other two doubles matches.
Darnell Sgubin spared the Bees from being swept by SC State by winning his singles match in three sets 3-6, 6-2, and 6-2.
Even though the men lost 6-1 SCAD Coach
Reinaldo Valor commented, “We are getting better and it was about encouraging as a loss can be!”
