The Georgia Gwinnett men's tennis team defeated SCAD on Friday at the Georgia Gwinnett Tennis Facility in Lawrenceville, GA, 7-2, capturing their first-ever match in their school's history. SCAD played in front of 350 fans who packed out the Grizzlies' home courts and celebrated the beginning of GGC's first intercollegiate spring sports season with a strong performance against the Bees.
The doubles team of
Manatsa Mazimbe and
Peter Yellico gave SCAD its only victory in doubles play, while
Darnell Sgubin was the lone winner in singles play.
The men return to action February 3 when they travel to Macon, Ga. to take on Shorter College. SCAD's first home match will be against College of Coastal Georgia at Bacon Park. Match play begins at 1 pm.
