The Women's Lacrosse team has put together a streak of five straight conference wins to bring its National Women's Lacrosse League (NWLL) record to 8-1. They are tied with Indiana Tech for 1st place in the NWLL standings. SCAD has an overall record of 9-3.
The Bees took on the Reinhardt Eagles, who brought a 4-2 conference record to SCAD's Sports Complex. The game got off to poor start as the Eagles scored two goals in the first minute and a half. However, the Bees responded very quickly and efficiently by scoring 13 of the next 14 goals to take a commanding 13-3 lead at halftime.
The second half began with a defensive battle. No scores were made for the first nine and a half minutes until Brittany Lukowski was able to put one into the net at the 20:24 mark to make it 14-3. The Eagles seemed to take on a renewed determination when they scored the next four goals to bring the score to 14-7. It was a back-and-forth scoring contest from then on. SCAD was able to outscore the Eagles 4-2 down the stretch to win by a final score of 18-9.
The Bees were led in scoring by
Kayla Nelson and
Chelsea Bernardo with 4 each. Hayley Fauvelle contributed 3 with
Jaclyn Scott adding two. Five other Bees contributed 1 each for a total of 18 goals.
Shaina Levin,
Kayla Nelson, and Sam North each had one assist.
SCAD's next opponent will be Shorter College who are only a game behind the Bees in the conferenc standings. The game will be today in Rome, Georgia beginning at 2 pm. The Bees return home to SCAD's Athletic Complex on 4/6 to take on Lenoir-Rhyne University at 2:30 pm. Come and support your Bees!
