SCAD Soars Over Eagles of Reinhardt 18-9

4/1/2012 2:17:00 PM

The Women's Lacrosse team has put together a streak of five straight conference wins to bring its National Women's Lacrosse League (NWLL) record to 8-1.  They are tied with Indiana Tech for 1st place in the NWLL standings.  SCAD has an overall record of 9-3.

The Bees took on the Reinhardt Eagles, who brought a 4-2 conference record to SCAD's Sports Complex.  The game got off to poor start as the Eagles scored two goals in the first minute and a half.  However, the Bees responded very quickly and efficiently by scoring 13 of the next 14 goals to take a commanding 13-3 lead at halftime.

The second half began with a defensive battle.  No scores were made for the first nine and a half minutes until Brittany Lukowski was able to put one into the net at the 20:24 mark to make it 14-3.  The Eagles seemed to take on a renewed determination when they scored the next four goals to bring the score to 14-7. It was a back-and-forth scoring contest from then on.  SCAD was able to outscore the Eagles 4-2 down the stretch to win by a final score of 18-9.

The Bees were led in scoring by Kayla Nelson and Chelsea Bernardo with 4 each.  Hayley Fauvelle contributed 3 with Jaclyn Scott adding two.  Five other Bees contributed 1 each for a total of 18 goals.

Shaina Levin, Kayla Nelson, and Sam North each had one assist.

SCAD's next opponent will be Shorter College who are only a game behind the Bees in the conferenc standings.  The game will be today in Rome, Georgia beginning at 2 pm.  The Bees return home to SCAD's Athletic Complex on 4/6 to take on Lenoir-Rhyne University at 2:30 pm.  Come and support your Bees!
