3/27/2012 7:33:00 PM

SCAD Women's Lacrosse have won their third straight game by defeating the Aquinas Saints in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  The 18-11 victory raises the Bees' record to 7-3.  They are 6-1 in conference play.

Game Results

At the 17:50 mark in the first half it looked as if SCAD would have a tough match for the day's play.  They were quickly down 4-2.  However, it seemed that SCAD used this as motivation to get to work.  The Bees scored the last eight goals of the half to take a 10-4 lead into the break.

Just when you thought the game is was out of reach, the Saints scored the first 2 goals of the second half to pull within four.  Once again the Bees responded as they had in the first half.  They went on a 5-goal run.  The game was back-and-forth until the last nine minutes.  In that time Aquinas was able to score 3 of the 4 goals to pull within six.  But it was just too much of a lead.  And to provide the icing on the cake, Kayla Nelson scored the last goal with 29 seconds on the clock.  The final score - SCAD 18, Aquinas 11.

Although the goals were spread among five Bees - Nelson (6), Charlotte Cutts (5), Haley Fauvelle (4), Sam North (2), and Rachel Ackley (1), there was plenty of help coming from Jaclyn Scott who registered three assists.  The remaining help was dispersed evenly with Ackley, Cutts, Fauvelle, Shaina Levin, North, and Alexis Spaide each contributing one assist.

The Bees dominated play in almost every area.  One particularly one-sided statistic was in the draw controls.  SCAD's Lukowski and Nelson combined to control 21 of 31 draw controls in which they were involved.  In the shots on goal the Bees kept the Saints' goalie busy by taking 21 shots on goal in the first half compared to 10 shots for Aquinas.

SCAD's Kayla Nelson had a particularly good day.  She was 6-11 on shots on goal, had 8 ground balls, and won 8-10 draw controls'

SCAD's next game is away against Tennessee Wesleyan on 3/30 at 4 pm.  Go Bees!
