3/21/2012 8:46:00 PM

The Women's Lacrosse Team lost two hard fought games to St. Leo University and Indiana Tech.  SCAD's record falls to 4-3 (2-0 conference).

Results vs. St. Leo University

In the first game SCAD never had a lead, but the game was anybody's game as each team traded goals with one another.  It looked as if St. Leo was pulling away from the Bees when they took a 7-2 lead at the 12:32 mark of the 1st half.  But by the end of the half SCAD added three late goals to pull within two at 7-5.

The second half started strongly for SCAD.  They scored the first two goals to tie the game at 7-7.  Again the game was tied at 9-9.  It looked as if the game would be won by the team that had a small rally.  At the 14:37 mark the score was once more tied at ten.  It was then that St. Leo started scoring by degrees.  A goal at 14:03.  Another at 11:01.  Another at 8:50.  And another at 6:40.  SCAD could not answer.  Final score - St. Leo 14, SCAD 10.

For the Bees, goals were spread among eight different players with Kayla Nelson and Britney Lukowski getting two each.  Charlotte Cutts and Nelson had two assists to lead the Bees.  Jenny Danko had 6 ground balls, while Britney Lukowski and Casey Reiser had 4 each.

Results vs. Indiana Tech

It looked as if SCAD was going to put the game away early.  In the first three minutes of the game the Bees scored 3 goals and led 3-0.  But Indiana Tech came back and tied the game at 3-3 at 22:31.  Back and forth the scoring went.  The score was tied again at 7-7 at 11:07.   A minute later Indiana Tech took the lead at 8-7.  They would never be behind again.

At the beginning of the second half SCAD scored quickly and pulled within one at 11-10.  Once again the match was up for grabs as the two teams battled fiercly.  Anyone who could put a few goals space between them and the other team would be the team that prevailed.  And sad to say, that team was Indiana Tech.  They scored the next three goals and never looked back.  They ended up scoring 3 of the last 4 goals in the second half and ended up with a 20-14 victory.

Kayla Nelson led the way with 6 goals on 8 shots, while Charlotte Cutts and Sam North had 4 and 2 goals respectively.  Britney Lukowski and Jaclyn Scott added 1 each.  Defensively, Rachel Ackley, Lukowski, Sophie Spivack, and Casey Reiser caused two turnovers each.

SCAD's next game will be against conference rival Robert Morris College in Grand Rapids, Michigan on  March 21.  SCAD has six more road games before returning to Savannah on April 6 when they take on Lenoir-Rhyne University at 3:30 pm.
