No. 25 Bees upset No. 17 Warriors 6-3

SAVANNAH, Ga. –
The SCAD Savannah men's tennis team upset Webber International University 6-3 in a The Sun Conference match Saturday (April 2) afternoon at the Bacon Park Tennis Courts.

The 25th-ranked Bees improved to 6-3 overall and to 3-2 in the conference while the 17th-ranked Warriors fell to 13-4 and 3-2. SCAD returns to action with a 10 a.m. league match against Warner University Sunday (April 3).

The Bees jumped out to a 3-0 lead as they swept all three doubles matches. SCAD quickly pushed its lead to four as Kaan Yaylali recorded a straight-set victory (6-2, 6-1) at No. 2 singles; however, the Warriors picked up wins in the next three matches to close within a point at 4-3. SCAD claimed the win as Darnell Sgubin defeated Marcel Schmitt 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5. The Bees got their final point when Dean Loock defeated Rafael Teixeira 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4) at No. 1.
