Devin Dorsey scored four goals and assisted on five others as the Savannah College of Art and design women's lacrosse team opened their 2010 season with a 20-3 win over Erskine College Saturday (Feb. 20) evening at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The Bees improved to 1-0 while the Flying Fleet fell to 0-2. SCAD returns to action Sunday (Feb. 21) at noon as they host Methodist University at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The three goals allowed by the Bees matched the fewest goals allowed in a match in the history of the program. SCAD only allowed three goals in a 26-3 win over Kennesaw State University during the 2008 season.
SCAD jumped out to an 8-0 lead with 16:01 remaining in the first half as Dorsey and
Samantha North each tallied two goals. Erskine got back-to-back goals in a 29 second span by Sarah Tibbets and Lisa Kmonicek to make the score 8-2. However, the Bees, who outshot Erskine 40-7 (31-2 in the first half) quickly regained control of the match as they scored the final six goals of the opening half to take a 14-2 lead at the half.
It was much of the same as the Bees outscored the Flying Fleet 6-1 in the second period.
In addition to Dorsey and North, five other players found the back of the net for the Bees.
Chelsea Bernardo and
Nicole Burns each scored three times, while
Jaclyn Scott,
Kim Caltagirone and
Britney Lukowski each tallied two scores.
Alicia Anderson and
Alexis Spaide registered a goal each.
