HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - The Savannah College of Art and Design women's lacrosse team scored six of the final seven goals as the Bees defeated Bryn Mawr College 17-13 Sunday (March 8) afternoon at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
SCAD also dropped an 18-4 decision to Swarthmore College earlier in the day. With the split, SCAD improved to 2-7. SCAD returns action next Sunday (March 15) with a noon match against Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, Tenn.
Bryn Mawr jumped out to a 5-1 lead but SCAD scored five unanswered goals - two each by
Nicole Mula and
Chelsea Bernardo and another by
Samantha North - to take a 6-5 lead with 4:18 remaining in the first half.
SCAD scored the first three goals of the second half to take a 10-7 lead with 23:13 left on another Mula goal. For the third time in the past five matches, Mula led the Bees with seven goals. However, the Owls reeled off four unanswered goals to take an 11-10 lead on a Cara Sogliuzzo shot with 14:22 remaining. The Bees took the lead for good at 13-12 on a Mula goal with 10:10 left. SCAD closed out the match with four more goals.
Goalkeeper
Khylen Steward recorded 18 saves for the Bees. North and Allie John finished with three goals each while Bernardo and
Jaclyn Scott contributed two goals apiece.
Against Swarthmore, Mula, Bernardo, John and
Alicia Anderson each tallied a goal for the Bees.
