No. 17 Bees sting Royals 6-1

LAKE WALES, Fla. - Five different players scored as the Savannah College of Art and Design women's soccer team recorded a 6-1 conference win over Warner Southern College Friday (Sept. 26) evening.

The Bees, who are ranked No. 17 in the NAIA, snapped a three-match losing streak as they leveled their overall record at 4-4-0 and improved to 2-1-0 in The Sun Conference. The Royals slipped to 3-4-0 and 0-4-0. SCAD returns to action Sunday (Sept. 28) at 1 p.m. when they face Webber International University in Babson Park, Fla.

SCAD broke its 293 minute, 44 second scoring drought when Lauren O'Malley scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Logann Rogers at the 3:25 mark. Melissa Feuerriegel scored the first of her two goals in the 25th minute for the Bees. Feuerriegel, who also registered two assists in the match, leads the team with 10 goals. The Bees took a 4-0 lead at the half as Haley Walker and Amanda Barj each added goals. It was Walker's first goal of the season while Barj has scored twice in 2008.

After the Royals got an early goal in the second half, SCAD, which outshot the Royals 21-4, closed out the scoring with goals by Feuerriegel and Katie Putnam, who registered her first score of the season.
