LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Warner Southern College men's soccer team defeated Savannah College of Art and Design 2-1 Friday (Sept. 26) evening.
The Royals, who have won four consecutive matches, improved to 6-3-0 overall and to 3-1-0 in The Sun Conference. SCAD fell to 3-4-2 and to 1-2-1. SCAD returns to action Sunday (Sept. 28) at 3 p.m. when they will travel to West Palm Beach, Fla., to face Northwood (Fla.) University.
Warner Southern took a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute when Mauricio Castano converted a penalty kick. SCAD equalized the match in the 60th minute as
Javier Melon Gil picked off a pass in the backfield and knocked it in the goal for his first score of the season.
The Royals got the match-winning goal on a direct kick from Castano three minutes later.
