Golden goal the difference as No. 7 California Baptist edges No. 14 Bees

California Baptist University scored a golden goal in the second overtime to give the No. 7-ranked Lancers a 1-0 victory over No. 14 Savannah College of Art and Design women's soccer team Saturday (Sept. 20) evening on the final day of the Lee Classic.

California Baptist improved to 6-2-0 while the Bees, who are 0-4 against nationally-ranked team (three coming by one goal), fell to 3-4-0. SCAD returns to action Friday (Sept. 26) with a 5 p.m. The Sun Conference match against Warner Southern College.

The Lancers got the deciding goal with just 2:52 remaining in the extra time as Jacquelyn Witz scored off a cut shot under the arms of SCAD goalkeeper Rosanna Lamprey. Witz' seventh goal of the season was set up by an assist from Giannina Loza.
