HARDEEVILLE, S.C. –Laura Phyfer's goal in the 83rd minute was the difference as Berry College edged the Savannah College of Art and Design 1-0 in a women's soccer match Sunday (Sept. 14) afternoon in the final match of the SCAD Classic that was played at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The 15th-ranked Vikings improved to 2-2-0 while the 13th-ranked Bees slipped to 3-2-0. SCAD travels to Cleveland, Tenn.,

SCAD appeared to draw first blood in the match, however, an offside call negated a score for the Bees in the 75th minute. Berry got the lone goal at the 82:29 mark when SCAD goalkeeper
Rosanna Lamprey came off her line to challenge Phyfer on a ball in the ball. Lamprey dropped the ball in the ensuing collision and fell down. Phyfer regained her balance, collected the ball and then booted it into an open net.
SCAD had one last opportunity to extend the match as
Melissa Feuerriegel's shot just went wide of the left post in the final 10 seconds of regulation.
Vanessa Zimmerman earned a shutout for the Vikings as she stopped five shots while Lamprey also recorded five saves for the Bees.
