MOBILE, Ala. - The Savannah College of Art and Design swept its first-round match against Malone College 9-0 at the 2008 NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship Monday (May 12) afternoon at the Mobile Tennis Center.
SCAD, which finished the season ranked 10th in the NAIA, improved to 10-7 on the season and will face No. 7 seed Lindsey Wilson College in a 1 p.m. Central time match Tuesday (May 13). The Bees also recorded their first-ever win at the national tournament in two appearances. Malone, who advanced to the 24-team tournament by earning the automatic berth from NAIA Region IX, ended its season at 17-6.
The Bees, who earned an at-large berth to nationals, took a commanding 3-0 lead after doubles play before dropping just 13 games as SCAD took wins in each of the six singles matches.
