ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Savannah College of Art and Design women's soccer team claimed a share of The Sun Conference title with a 4-1 victory over St. Thomas (Fla.) University Saturday (Nov. 1) afternoon at Flagler Field.

The match was a makeup contest from a match that was rained out in Savannah last month. SCAD, which is ranked No. 11 in the NAIA, improved to 11-4-0 overall and to 9-1-0 in the conference. SCAD, which also won a Florida Sun Conference title in 2005, will share the conference title with Northwood (Fla.) University. The two teams split their regular-season meetings; however, Northwood will earn the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament which starts next weekend based on aggregate score in those encounters (6-3). SCAD will wrap up its regular season with a 1 p.m. non-conference match against Thomas (Fla.) University in Thomasville, Ga.

SCAD took a 1-0 lead on Selin Kuralay's ninth goal of 2008 off an assist from Manuela Pizzaro in the 38th minute before the Bobcats tied the match at 1 three minutes later on a goal by Frances Britt off an Emily Vicci.

The Bees took control of the match with three second-half goals. SCAD took the lead for good in the 75th minute on Lauren O'Malley's goal. Miranda Podmore took a short corner to Angela Kowalski, who found O'Malley at the back post for the deciding goal. O'Malley added an insurance goal - her fourth of the season - seven minutes later before Pizzaro closed out the scoring in the 86th minute off a Kuralay assist.
