Bees split double dual with C of C, Georgia Southern

SAVANNAH, Ga. -
The Savannah College of Art and Design women's swimming team opened up their 2008-09 season with a double dual meet against NCAA Division I members College of Charleston and Georgia Southern University Saturday (Oct. 18) afternoon at the Chatham County Aquatic Center.

SCAD, which finished third in the NAIA last season, defeated Charleston 186-75 while the Bees were defeated by Georgia Southern 161-100 .

The Bees picked up three wins in the 14-event meet. Senior Cassie Dixon was the big winner for SCAD as she claimed the top time in three events - women's 100-yard backstroke (1:00.21), 50 freestyle (24.59) and 100 freestyle (54.04).

SCAD returns to action with a 3:30 p.m. meet Friday (Oct. 24) in Tampa, Fla., against the University of Tampa.
