HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - Selin Kuralay and
Amanda Barj each recorded hat tricks as the 13th-ranked Savannah College of Art and Design women's soccer team recorded a 9-3 The Sun Conference victory over Warner Southern College Friday (Oct. 17) evening at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The Bees won their fifth consecutive match as they improved to 8-4-0 overall and to 6-1-0 in the league while the Royals slipped to 4-9-0 overall and remained winless in nine conference matches. SCAD returns to action Oct. 24 when they will host Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University in a 6 p.m. league tilt at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
SCAD wasted little time as Kuralay and Barj scored goals within 23 seconds of each other in the opening three minutes of the match. The Bees, who outshot the Royals 28-11, also got goals from
Melissa Feuerriegel,
Mallory Phillips and
Gabriella Levandowski in the match. For Phillips, the penalty kick in the 77th minute was the first collegiate goal for the senior defender.
