HARDEEVILLE, S.C.  —
A.J. Barrett's goal with 4:23 remaining was the difference as No. 23 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University shut out the Savannah College of Art and Design 1-0 in the title match of the NAIA Region XIV Men's Soccer Tournament Saturday (Nov. 3) evening at the SCAD Athletics Complex.

Embry-Riddle, the tournament's top seed, improved to 10-6-2 and will advance to the NAIA National Championship Nov. 14-20 in Olathe, Kan. For the Eagles, it was their fourth region title in the past seasons. SCAD, the No. 2 seed, ended its season at 13-5-0. The Bees, who had reached the region final for the third consecutive year, won a college-record 13 matches for the third straight season.

Barrett's heroics were set up by a cross into the box that was deflected by a SCAD defender and landed at the feet of Barrett, who poked the ball into the right corner of the goal for the match winner. It was Barrett's sixth goal of the season.
