Alec Hoover

Coach Alec Hoover is entering his fifth year as The Head Coach of Cycling for the SCAD- Savannah cycling team.
 
A 2017 graduate of Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C., Hoover earned his B.S. Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. He also earned his Associates Degree in Exercise Science from Duchess County Community College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. in 2014.
 
While at Lees McRae, Hoover competed on the cycling team, serving as the team’s Road Captain during the spring of 2017. While competing at lees- McRae College Hoover won the SECCC Championship Road Race in 2016, Placed 12th omnium at the 2016 Collegiate Road Race Nationals in Asheville, NC, and won the ACCC championship road race in 2017. He is also a two-time USAC Academic All-Star, graduating from Lees-McRae Cum Laude. He was named to the conference's Carolina's Presidential Honor Roll in the spring of 2016.
 
Prior to his hire at SCAD, Hoover was the Head Coach of Cycling at Ripon College for two and a half years. During his Tenure at Ripon, Hoover developed the team to compete at multiple national championships and win multiple awards in the MWCCC.
 
Additionally, to his career in collegiate cycling, Hoover has 11 years of cycling racing experience and Holds a USAC Category 1 racing license in the disciplines of Road, Cyclocross, and Mountain Bike. A New York native, Hoover spent the bulk of his racing career on the east coast, specializing in Stages Races, UCI Cyclocross, and domestic elite criterium racing.

2019-2020 Individuals competed at the USA Cycling Collegiate National Championships in Track, Mountain Bike, and Cyclocross
