SCAD women's tennis player, Theresa Schmaus, was selected as the SCAD "Student-Artist-Athlete Player of the Week" for May 20-26.
Schmaus plays no. 1 singles and also no. 1 doubles on the #4 nationally ranked SCAD Women’s Team. This past week she participated in the NAIA Women’s Tennis National Championships in Mobile, Alabama. In the two rounds that SCAD played Schmaus won both of her doubles’ matches (8-2, 8-6) and both of her singles’ matches (6-1, 6-2; 7-5, 6-2).
In addition to being undefeated in her sport for the week, Schmaus also excels in the classroom. A sophomore majoring in Fashion Marketing and Management, she carries a 3.8 cumulative GPA at SCAD. Because of her academic excellence Schmaus was selected as a 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete on 5/17.
Congratulations to Theresa Schmaus for her athletic and academic accomplishments.
Other worthy considerations for the “Student-Artist-Athlete Player of the Week” honor were Maja Plavsic (W. Tennis), Cody Sienkiewicz (M. Lacrosse), and Kreyton Polka (M. Lacrosse).
