After scoring two points in each of the Bees wins this week Karina Rovira has been named Reed Publications female Student-Artist-Athlete “Player of the Week” for April 6-April 13.
Against Erskine, Rovira scored the first point of the match teaming up with Daniella Arcila for an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles. Rovira followed that up with a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 5 singles to help clinch the match for the Bees.
Rovira scored SCAD’s first two points in Bees upset win over third-ranked Embry-Riddle. Rovira and Arcila won 8-6 at No. 3 doubles, to cut the deficit to 2-1 heading into singles play. In singles play, Rovira defeated Ana Gonzalez-Hoy 6-2, 6-2 to tie the match 2-2.
Rovira improved to 7-4 in singles match this season, including a perfect 5-0 in conference play. She is also 7-2 and 5-0 in doubles matches as well.
With the win Saturday, the women’s tennis team clinched The Sun Conference regular season title after going 7-0 in conference play.
