SCAD Women’s Cross Country runner, Jessy Scarpone, was selected as the recipient of SCAD's Student-Artist-Athlete "Player of the Week" for October 20-26.
Jessy Scarpone participated in the 2014 San Shark Invitational in Hardeeville., SC and won the individual team title in the 5K race with an all-time SCAD school record over 5K on “grass” (17:30). The two time All-American, Scarpone, has put herself in position to perform extremely well in the approaching championship season.
Scarpone and the Lady Bees broke the SCAD Top 5 Average Record of 18:38 by 31 seconds, finishing the course with a Top 5 Average of Record of 18:07. Their total time of 90:39 for the Top Five and team average of 18:07 was faster than all teams in the NAIA this season, other than NAIA #1 British Columbia and #5 Cal State San Marcos.
Because of her performance Scarpone was selected by The Sun Conference as the Women’s “Runner of the Week.” In the five meets of the 2014 season Scarpone has won 3 of them and come in second twice. .
Scarpone is an Illustration major and carries a 3.4 GPA.
Other worthy considerations were Trinci-Lyne and Fernando Zeledon (M. Soccer), Sara Hall (W. Soccer), and Ace Brown (M. Cross Country),
