SCAD Men’s Soccer goalkeeper, Fernando Zeledon, was selected as the recipient of SCAD's Student-Artist-Athlete "Player of the Week" for September 29-October 5.
Zeledon took part in two games this past week and compiled a total of 11 saves in the two 1-0 victories over Warner and Webber International. In the Webber game Zeledon saved five shots and three of those shots came in the final three minutes of the game. Any one of them could have changed the outcome of the game, but the opponents found Zeledon diving to his right and left to stave off those tie-scoring attempts. He deflected his last save in the last 10 seconds of the game ending up face down in front of the goal as the game-ending horn sounded.
In his last three games Zeledon has allowed no goals and has helped the team to a 3-0-1 conference record. For his performances during the week, The Sun Conference voted him conference “Defensive Player of the Week.”
Other worthy candidates were Jordan Trinci-Lyne (M. Soccer), Sara Hall, Gabrielle Garbe (W. Soccer), and Daniella Arcila and Carolina Viteri (W. Tennis).
Congratulations to Fernando Zeledon for his honors.
