Holy Innocents' Episcopal School Athletics

SCAD equestrian Michael Kocher was selected as the SCAD "Student-Artist-Athlete Player of the Week" for April 28-May 4.

Kocher was a part of the equestrian team that finished 4th overall in the 2014 IHSA National Championships held this past weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska.  At nationals he finished 3rd in Individual Open Equitation Over Fences, and received Honorable Mention in his team class. His performances were key to his being selected to receive the Equestrian Coach Achievement of Excellence Award.  The award was presented by Bernie Taurig from equestrian coach.com.  For his success Kocher received a monetary award and a week-long clinic with top trainer Karen Healey in California.
 
Kocher has been SCAD’s top rider all year and he concluded his sophomore season with equestrian by finishing in 4th place among the 36 candidates for the Cacchione Cup, Equestrian’s premier individual riding award.  
 
Kocher is sophomore at SCAD with, as yet, an undeclared major.
 
Tori Smolinski of Equestrian was another worthy consideration for the Player of the Week honor.
 
Congratulations to Michael Kocher for his accomplishments this past week. This is the fifth time he has been recognized as SCAD’s Student-Artist-Athlete Player of the Week.
