SCAD Women's Lacrosse player, Kayla Nelson, was selected as the Student-Artist-Athlete Player of the Week for March 31-April 6.
Nelson is a junior for the women's team. She is an Industrial Design major.
Nelson is a part of the 2014 Women's Lacrosse Team that made SCAD history last week by winning its 11th consecutive game without a defeat.in the regular season. No prior SCAD athletic team has ever had an undefeated season. Nelson has played on two NWLL National Championship teams for SCAD and will be going to her 3rd postseason in as many years with the hope of winning another NWLL national title.
In her two games this last week Nelson showed exceptional proficiency when she scored 7 goals out of the 10 shots she took. Combined with 3 assists on other goals and having 3 ground balls Nelson helped the team to victories in its last two games by scores of 19-3 and 18-7.
Other worthy considerations were Jennifer Danko (W. Lacrosse), Nate Travis, Doug Henry, and Matt Mantel (M. Lacrosse), Jonathan Moody, Jon Riley, and Ace Brown (M. Track and Field), and Michael Kocher, Molly McDougal, and Quinn Lowsky (Equestrian).
Congratulations to Kayla Nelson for her Student-Artist-Athlete Player of the Week honor. This is the second time that Nelson has won this award.
