SCAD Women’s tennis player Maria Barragan has been selected as Student-Artist- Athlete Co-Player of the Week for March 17-23, along with teammate Carolina Viteri.
Barragan played in four singles matches at No. 3 this past week and recorded four wins against St. Thomas, Ave Maria, Oklahoma Baptist, and Southeastern. In the 7 sets that Barragan played she won 4 of the 7 by a score of 6-0, 6-0 (the eighth set she won by default). She only lost 7 games out of the 49 she played.
In addition to this, Barragan and her doubles partner, Daniella Arcila, won all four matches with scores of 8-1, 8-1, 8-0, and 8-2. Because of her contributions this past week, the SCAD W. Tennis Team won all four of the team competitions, three of which were Sun Conference opponents. The Lady Bees are 4-0 in conference play with 4 left to play.
Congratulations to Maria Barragan in her Student-Artist-Athlete Player of the Week recognition. This is the 2nd time that Barragan has won this recognition.
Other worthy considerations were Daniella Arcila, Ana Dominguez, and Isadora Salvetti (W. Tennis), and Darnell Sgubin, Zach White, and Joao Freitas (M. Tennis).
