SCAD M. Swimmer Joel Ax was selected as the SCAD "Student-Artist-Athlete Player of the Week" for January 6-12.
The freshman swimmer took part on January 11 in a meet held at Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) in Melbourne, Florida. Ax took first place honors in the 1000 Yd. Freestyle (9:33.97), 50 Yd. Freestyle (21.58), and the 500 Yd. Freestyle (4.35.78). Those were the only individual events in which he competed and he won them all.
Ax has made an immediate impact since competing for the Bees in the last four swim meets. Overall, Ax has taken part in 9 individual events in those events and has won 6 of them. Because of his performance at the FIT meet Ax was selected by the Bluegrass Mountain Conference as its "Swimmer of the Week."
Ax is from Idstein, Germany, and is an Interior Design major at SCAD. He carries a 3.5 GPA.
Other worthy considerations were Hannah Legg (W. Swimming), Heather Partlow (W. Swimming), and Ryan Searles (M. Swimming).
