TAMPA, Fla. – SCAD's
Ellen Benintendi has been named the Sun Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while
Aiden Andrews and
Maggie Froning have been named the Sun Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Track Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 13.
Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Ellen Benintendi | Fr. – Cincinnati, Ohio
Benintendi continues to be a dominating force for the Bees, totaling four goals and three assists, to go along with nine draw controls, as SCAD went 1-0 on the week to finish second in the Sun Conference standings. The freshman picked up her 100
th career draw control in the game. She currently leads the team in goals (55), draw controls (106), and ground balls (37). At the moment, Benintendi leads the conference in goals and is seventh in the NAIA.
The Bees will compete in the Sun Conference Semifinal on Friday, April 18
th at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Savannah, Ga.
Men's Outdoor Track & Field Track Athlete of the Week
Aiden Andrews | Fr. – Wrightsville Beach, N.C.
Andrews won his first event of the year at the Georgia Showdown, winning the 800M with a time of 1:58.78.
Women's Outdoor Track & Field Track Athlete of the Week
Maggie Froning | Sr. – Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Froning broke the school record in the 800M with her first-place time of 2:14.36. The Senior also finished second in the 1500M with a time of 4:41.83.
The track & field teams will compete at the S.C. State Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Classic on Friday, April 18
th, as well as the Georgia Tech Invitational on Friday-Saturday, April 18
th-19
th.
