QUICK HIT: The SCAD women's tennis team, who is No. 2 in the Sun Conference, defeated No. 3 St. Thomas 5-0 in the TSC Semi-Finals at Coastal Georgia (Brunswick, Ga.) Thursday morning to advance to the finals.
RECORDS: The NAIA No. 3 Bees are now 10-4 this season while No. 24 St. Thomas is now 6-9.
DOUBLES ACTION: The Bees took an early 3-0 lead as they won all three doubles matches to start the day.
Camille Gbaguidi and
Valerie Droop won 8-2 at number one doubles.
Johanna Weber and
Karina Rovira won 8-5 at number two doubles while
Julia Albuquerque and
Nicole Katzarkov won 8-4 at number three doubles.
SINGLES ACTION: Gbaguidi and Albuquerque clinched the match for the Bees with Gbaguidi winning 6-1, 6-3 at number one singles and Albuquerque winning 6-2, 6-0 at number five singles.
Droop was down 3-6, 2-2 at the end of the match at number two singles while Weber was leading 6-3, 4-3 at number three singles.
Rovira, at number four singles, and Katzarkov, at number six singles were leading 6-2, 5-2 and 6-4, 5-2, respectively.
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will remain at Coastal Georgia to take on the TSC No. 1 and NAIA No. 1 Keiser in the final on April 20 at 9:00 a.m.
