Lexington, Kentucky – The SCAD equestrian team finished with 36 points to claim their second straight national championship at the IHSA National Championship Saturday. It is the second IHSA National Championship in program history.
Ryan Genn competed in three different events on the final day of competition. Genn began the day by tallying 91.0, the highest score of the day, in phase II of the Cacchione Cup competition. That score helped Genn move up five spots and finish third in the Cacchione Cup.
Genn followed that up with a fourth-place finish in the open over fences event to earn three points and clinch the national title for the Bees. In the final event of the competition Genn earned a blue ribbon in the open flat.
The Bees finished nationals with three first-place finishes, one second-place finish, one third-place finish, and two fourth-place finishes.
Mount Holyoke College finished in second place with 20 points, while Findlay scored 18 points to finish third.
