Men’s Soccer Ends Season At Home Against Florida Memorial

11/13/2016 11:22:00 AM

Box Score On Saturday evening, November 5, SCAD hosted Florida Memorial in the semi-final match-up of The Sun Conference tournament.

The teams had previously met on September 25 on the same pitch, where SCAD emerged 2-1 winners. That victory was not destined to be repeated.

In Saturday's first half, SCAD mustered little offense, while Fernando Zeledon made a number of fine saves for the Bees. The teams went into the intermission scoreless.

In the second half, Florida Memorial opened the scoring in the 55th minute on a goal by Marco Peretta. SCAD created a number of attacking combinations featuring Kaleem Haitham, Torin Melville and Naim El Harrati, but could not find the back of the net.

The need for a SCAD goal opened up play. The orange and blue Lions capitalized with an attack that drew Zeledon off his line. The resulting shot was cleared from the goalmouth by a SCAD defender, apparently with his hand. A penalty kick was awarded and Florida Memorial converted in the 77th minute.

The final score was Florida Memorial 2, SCAD 0. It was the final game of the season for SCAD, and for the seniors who formed the backbone of this year's squad.
